USDA Secretary Urges Federal Land Ranchers to Utilize Grazing Directive

The USDA highlighted that the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management “administer approximately 240 million acres of rangelands across 28 states.“

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins recently sent a letter to all U.S. livestock ranchers with grazing permits for U.S. Forest Service allotments. The letter outlines the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Grazing Directive from June 2026, encouraging ranchers to “put it to work on their allotments.” The notice is part of the USDA’s October 2025 plan to Fortify the American Beef Industry.

Secretary Rollins told ranchers, “You embody the ethos of our nation’s founding 250 years ago. For the past 19 months, USDA has worked tirelessly to defend and promote our nation’s ranchers and give you the tools to help rebuild our Great American Cattle Herd. I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Grazing Directive as we work together to accomplish shared goals on your respective allotments.”

The department stated, “The U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management administer approximately 240 million acres of rangelands across 28 states, supporting more than 23,000 permittees and lessees.“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Rollins as she oversees efforts to support ranchers and the beef industry in the U.S.
  • For Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment Michael Boren as they work with the USDA to build up the nation’s cattle herd.
  • For U.S. ranchers as they avail themselves of federal initiatives to increase beef production.
