Weekly Prayer Update Opening

On this day 25 years ago, news of a website was released.

Six days after September 11, America was still searching — for answers, for comfort, and for what the next steps should be. In that hour we were able to offer a robust answer in prayer.

The request had come on a Thursday: Can we have a website ready by Monday — one able to welcome as many as 20 million visitors? Engineers in five states, with servers in ten locations, worked without stopping for 72 hours. That sprint would have been impossible if God had not already given the vision months earlier. A few faithful men, meeting for Bible study and prayer, had been prompted to lay the groundwork to pray for our President and our leaders based on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. When the nation needed a place to turn, the door was ready.

The Presidential Prayer Team officially began the next day, September 18. Sign-ups poured in by the tens of thousands an hour. Email itself was still new. How do you write to a family that would not stop growing? Story after story followed as this ministry pioneered ways to reach those who had said yes to pray.

We are Grateful for the Faithful—for those first watchmen, and for you: the praying and supporting members who still answer that call. Thank you.

Our Online Town Hall begins tomorrow, September 18–20 — members in all 50 states giving thanks to God for 25 years of prayer.

Thank you for praying with us today. Here is your Weekly Prayer Update.
