President Donald Trump is scheduled to participate in a State Department roundtable on critical minerals today.
The president and administration officials and executives from multiple mining enterprises will discuss the expansion of the critical mineral supply chain to reduce dependence on China. President Trump has made a priority of increasing the domestic and allied supply of the minerals, which are essential to energy, defense, and advanced technologies.
The Department of Energy is also hosting an event, with representatives from 14 accredited U.S. mining schools, to raise awareness of mining as a career path
“America’s security and economic future depend on developing a strong domestic mining sector,” said Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
