CENTCOM commander warns of the need for operational security as Iran relies on U.S. service member posts and videos for feedback on attacks.
The U.S. military successfully defended American troops stationed in Jordan after an attempted sneak attack overnight on Tuesday. U.S. Central Command reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched ballistic weapons from Iranian territory toward U.S. military installations in the Middle East, but that all the missiles were intercepted.
President Trump responded, “We’ll be hitting [Iran] hard, they’re going to get a beating.”
The U.S. teamed with Saudi Arabia to strike Iran-backed militias in Iraq on Tuesday. President Trump called the militias “a cancer on the world” and confirmed that the strikes were coordinated with the Iraqi government.
CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper warned that social media posts and videos from the cell phones of U.S. service members are providing Iran with information on the success or failure of its strikes and undermining operational security.
Admiral Cooper stated, “The direct, unavoidable cost of this open-source intelligence could be measured in the lives of American service members and civilian residents in targeted Gulf countries.”
