President Donald Trump is traveling to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit in Ankara, Turkey.

President Trump will receive a ceremonial welcome and will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan one-on-one ahead of the summit.
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stated, “President Trump has a great relationship with President Erdogan of Turkey, who has been an incredible partner in the region.”
The U.S. president, who has been critical of alliance members for inadequate defense spending, stated that he would not have attended the NATO conference had President Erdogan not specifically requested it. President Trump said, “I’m going out of respect to President Erdogan.”
