The U.S. trade representative participated in a virtual meeting with Canadian and Mexican officials this week.
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer spoke about the plans of President Trump’s administration for the U.S.-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement after a virtual meeting with representatives of Canada and Mexico.
The trade representative stated that the agreement, which was negotiated during President Trump’s first term, required a joint review by the USMCA Free Trade Commission, composed of government representatives from each party, on July 1.
“The United States will continue to engage with Mexico and Canada to address the Agreement’s shortcomings and our trade deficits with these countries,” Representative Greer added. “However, the Agreement remains in force pending resolution of these issues or until the Agreement’s termination.”
The U.S. and Mexico are scheduled to hold discussions regarding the USMCA review later in July.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Trade Representative Greer as he prepares for the next meeting with Mexican officials this month.
- For discernment for President Trump and his trade team as they negotiate and update agreements with other nations.
