Secretary Duffy said the current traffic bottleneck “prevents families from getting where they need to go and costs local communities millions of dollars in lost economic activity.”
U.S, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced a Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) loan of up to $310.2 million from the Build America Bureau to improve express lanes and a free-flowing toll system along the I-64/I-464 corridor in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
The Transportation Department described the corridor as “a critical regional artery that commuters rely on and freight companies utilize to access… the Virginia Port system, one of the largest ports on the East Coast.“
“Spending time in traffic isn’t just frustrating – it prevents families from getting where they need to go and costs local communities millions of dollars in lost economic activity,” said Secretary Duffy. “The Hampton Roads Express Lanes Network is a transformative investment that will slash congestion, enhance safety, and strengthen the region’s economic competitiveness.“
The transportation secretary commended former Governor Youngkin and Congresswoman Jen Kiggans for partnering with the administration to advance the project.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Duffy to be discerning as he oversees the awarding of federal loans to transportation projects.
- For U.S. Transportation officials as they assess interstate infrastructure for repair and upgrade funding.
