In the News…
Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio is reintroducing former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s bill, proposed in 1993, that would end birthright citizenship for children born to noncitizens of the U.S. The action comes after the Supreme Court majority ruled against President Trump’s executive order seeking to restrict birthright citizenship in that manner.
Senator Moreno responded to the ruling, saying, “The Supreme Court ignored the 14th Amendment and handed a win to the [Chinese Communist Part]. Every foreign enemy of the United States will utilize this irresponsible decision to harm American citizens and interests at home. Congress needs to act now.“
“Harry Reid introduced a great bill to end birthright citizenship, ensure no illegals could vote, and crack down on employers who abuse illegal labor,” said Senator Moreno of the legislation. “It’s a great bill, so I say let’s vote on it…“
The bill would increase penalties for illegal entry, make smuggling a RIBO offense, hold airlines and international carriers financially responsible for bringing passengers into the U.S. who lack proper documentation, strengthen workplace verification, and exclude children of illegal immigrants from citizenship. It would also make voting by noncitizens in any federal, state, or local election a federal crime.
