The Bureau of Land Management considers a new process to help streamline permitting for oil and gas infrastructure.
Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum announced an effort to streamline the permitting process for oil and gas infrastructure in Alaska’s National Petroleum Reserve. This action is being taken in response to a petition filed by the Alaska Oil and Gas Association, which proposed a new streamlined permitting procedure for the construction and operation of production sites and other associated infrastructure that meet certain criteria.
Secretary Burgum stated, “Industry has shown for years that energy development in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska can be done responsibly. The Trump administration is building on that record by giving companies the certainty they need to invest, create good-paying jobs, strengthen Alaska’s economy, and keep America Energy Dominant.”
As a first step, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will initiate a 45-day public scoping period to support an environmental impact statement for production site development in the 23-million-acre reserve. During this time, members of the public can submit comments on the BLM project webpage.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Burgum as he oversees the Interior Department and its many agencies.
- For Bureau of Land Management officials who will be receiving the comments submitted by the public and evaluating changes to the current permitting process.
