The vice president discussed information received from USDA Secretary Rollins at a campaign event.
Vice President JD Vance stated at a campaign stop in Iowa that thousands of dead people were discovered to have been receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Benefits (SNAP) by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. At an event for Representative Zach Nunn, the vice president commented on his experiences heading the fraud task force for President Donald Trump. Vice President Vance said that Secretary of Agriculture (USDA) Brooke Rollins informed him of fraud occurring among people collecting SNAP Benefits.
The vice president stated that the USDA secretary “found out that we’ve got 355,000 people on SNAP benefits receiving double benefits, that we’ve got 186,000 dead people getting SNAP benefits.” He added that there are “186,000 dead Americans getting food stamps right now.”
“I actually think that we should take food stamps away from dead people,“ Vice President Vance said. “I think that’s a reasonable thing.”
