The reporter was covering an anti-ICE protest when activists blew a whistle in her ear and then shoved her to the ground.
The Department of Justice announced that the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security are conducting a criminal probe into the assault of TPUSA journalist Savannah Hernandez by anti-ICE protestors outside a federal building in Minnesota. The reporter was recording video of the protest when activists attacked her.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office reported that three individuals were arrested for assaulting the journalist and a deputy. A fourth was arrested for actions directed toward the deputy.
Ms. Hernandez stated that she has become afraid to do her job, as she “wasn’t interviewing anybody, I wasn’t engaging with anybody“ when the attack occurred.
The federal building has experienced numerous protests as it has been central to federal immigration enforcement efforts during Operation Metro Surge.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For federal law enforcement as they conduct investigations into the assault on this and other journalists covering protests and demonstrations.
- For wisdom for local judges and prosecutors as they consider charges in cases of violence and terrorism.
