Another lawsuit against Harvard is launched as the DOJ seeks to recover federal grants.
The Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Civil Rights Division has filed a lawsuit against Harvard for the harassment of Israeli and Jewish members of the university. The agency cited a violation of Title VII, which protects against racial discrimination, during and after Hamas’ attacks on Israel on October 7th, 2023. The Office of Public Affairs (OPI) stated that Harvard was being “deliberately indifferent” toward its Jewish and Israeli students, and that officials selectively enforced campus protest rules, allowing antisemitic actions to continue without proper disciplinary action.
“Since October 7th, 2023, too many of our educational institutions have allowed anti-Semitism to flourish on campus – Harvard included,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. She continued that the “litigation underscores the Trump Administration’s commitment to demanding better from our nation’s schools and putting an end to discriminatory behavior that harms students.”
Federal courts restored roughly $2 billion after President Trump’s administration halted federal funding to the college last year. In this new lawsuit, the DOJ seeks to compel Harvard’s compliance with Title VII, and to recover the government grants that the institution collected while under the alleged violation of Title VII.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Attorney General Pamela Bondi as she seeks to protect students from racial and religious discrimination on university campuses.
