Iran threatens to block the Red Sea Strait of Bab el-Mandeb.
President Donald Trump announced the 10-day extension of the U.S. pause of strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure. The president said that negotiations are going “very well” as the pause was extended to April 6 at the request of the regime. At the White House Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff reported that the U.S. 15-point plan had been presented to Iran as a basis for peace.
During negotiations with the U.S., which are being facilitated by Pakistan, Iran has continued to target Israel with waves of missile attacks.
Media outlets have reported that Iran is threatening to shut down the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, in addition to throttling the Strait of Hormuz. The Houthis in Yemen, who have evidently not yet participated in the Iran war, could potentially use missiles and drones to block the Red Sea strait.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for President Trump as he deliberates over next actions in Operation Epic Fury.
- For U.S. officials to be discerning in their analysis of Iran’s capabilities.
- For the president’s military and diplomatics advisors as they provide information and recommendations.
