The trip is being rescheduled for a few weeks later as President Trump focuses on military operations in Iran.
President Donald Trump confirmed that his trip to Beijing, China, is being delayed due to Operation Epic Fury in Iran. He said that the summit with President Xi Jinping would be rescheduled for late April.
“We are resetting the meeting. We’re working with China. They were fine with it,” President Trump said from the White House. “Because of the war, I want to be here. I have to be here.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said China had agreed to postpone the visit, as “they understand the president’s rationale for doing so.”
President Trump is expected to discuss trade, tariffs, and Chinese export controls on rare earth minerals and magnets with President Xi in Beijing. Other topics will include the U.S. relationship with Taiwan and fentanyl exports from China. The two heads of state signed a trade truce in October at their last meeting, which occurred in South Korea.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump to seek God’s guidance as he heads the U.S. Armed Forces as commander-in-chief.
- For Secretary Hegseth, General Caine, and Admiral Cooper as they oversee Operation Epic Fury and advise the president on Iran.
- For wisdom for U.S. administration officials as they seek to resolve global conflicts.
