The Lens of Eternity

He has put eternity into man’s heart. – Ecclesiastes 3:11

Have you seen a viral video of a toddler with very poor vision having glasses placed on them so they no longer view just a blurry world? It is a heartwarming moment to watch the joy and amazement of a small child seeing their parents, and the world in general, clearly for the very first time. Perhaps you have experienced blinding sunshine outdoors, which prompted you to put on a pair of sunglasses. Once your vision was properly equipped, your eyes could discern what was once difficult or a strain to see.

In a similar manner, the Lord has provided His children with a type of special lens through which to view life. He created humanity in His own image, which comes with the desire to pursue and enjoy the divine, infinite character of God. It is also true that His hand is constantly over everything, working it all together for His glory and the good of His children (Romans 8:28). However, the world can blur the vision of God’s children to how He is moving.

The great news is that everyone has the opportunity to fix their eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2) and view life through His salvation! God has created each person with a nature that draws them to Himself – whether they realize it or not. As a follower of Christ, are you using the right pair of “lenses” to clearly view the world? If you haven’t yet, put on the “glasses“ of eternity and see the world with a Biblical perspective. Trust that God is working all things together here on earth and that, one day, all those who know and follow Him will enjoy a beautiful eternity with Him. Pray that the Lord would bring this perspective to all who need it today, including all those in government whose vision may be blurred by worldly things.

Today’s Verse: Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
