An increasing number of members in the House of Representatives have also said they will not vote on legislation passed by the Senate.
President Donald Trump stated that he will not sign any other legislation until the Senate passes the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act, which was approved in the House of Representatives last month. The act would require voter identification and proof of citizenship to vote. It would also allow mail-in ballots only for military, illness, disability, or travel.
President Trump stated that the SAVE America Act is “an 88% issue with all voters.” He continued, “It must be done immediately. It supersedes everything else. Must go to the front of the line.” He said he would not sign other bills, nor a “watered-down version.”
The president also commended political activist Scott Pressler for his efforts to make the U.S. Senate revert to a talking filibuster rather than the “silent” filibuster, which requires 60 votes to pass legislation rather than a simple majority.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York stated that his party “will not help pass the SAVE Act under any circumstances.”
An increasing number of representatives in the House have pledged not to support any legislation passed by the Senate until the SAVE America Act is passed in the upper chamber.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump as he seeks to ensure that only American citizens vote in elections.
- For members of the Senate to be discerning as they consider the SAVE America Act.
- For representatives in the lower chamber to be prudent in their support for the election integrity bill.
