Ongoing U.S. Military Operations in the Middle East

Conflicting Reactions in Iran as U.S. Confirms Supreme Leader’s Death

The White House has confirmed that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed during a joint U.S.–Israel strike over the weekend. Inside Iran, official state outlets have declared a 40‑day mourning period, and large public gatherings in Tehran have shown citizens weeping, chanting, and expressing grief in organized state-led observances.

However, independent reporting and verified videos from multiple provinces depict Iranians celebrating openly, expressing relief over Khamenei’s death. Opposition groups have urged supporters to remain indoors for now, citing safety concerns and advising citizens to wait for clarity on Iran’s succession process and the future political structure.

In the hours and days following the strike, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military installations across Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. U.S. Central Command has reported the deaths of three American service members connected to these operations, with an additional five wounded. In a public address Sunday, President Trump said the nation grieves “the true American patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation,” offering “immense love and eternal gratitude to the families of the fallen.”

U.S. officials estimate that the conflict may continue for several more weeks as military operations progress. At the same time, the administration has signaled openness to potential diplomatic engagement with Iran’s emerging leadership as the country goes through this political transition.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the families of the fallen service members, for those wounded, and U.S. troops deployed abroad.
  • For national leaders and lawmakers as they navigate complex decisions in the coming days and weeks.
  • For civilians at home and abroad facing travel disruptions and safety concerns.
