Transportation Department Debuts DCA’s Technology Upgrade

Electronic flight strips have now been adopted by 15 airports nationwide.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy visited Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) to highlight the airport’s recent upgrade to electronic flight strips. The department noted that paper flight strips had been used for decades preceding this transition, and that the new electronic flight strips would optimize the air traffic system, “enhancing air travel for the American people at one of our nation’s busiest airports.”

Secretary Duffy stated, “USDOT is making this 1970s tech in air traffic control towers a thing of the past by going DIGITAL. That means more SAFETY and EFFICIENCY in our skies.“

The $12.5 billion in funding for this upgrade comes from the One Big Beautiful Bill, with DCA being just one of 15 airports that have transitioned to the new technology in the U.S. Besides providing live updates to air traffic controllers, the electronic flight strips will improve controllers’ ability to manage traffic volume and fluctuating weather patterns.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For officials in the Transportation Department as they guide the implementation of the new electronic flight strip technology.
  • For Administrator Bryan Bedford as he heads the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • For Secretary Duffy to receive God’s wisdom as he oversees the Transportation Department and its agencies.
