The U.S. seeks to deter illegal fishing and increase foreign markets for American exports.
The U.S. State Department announced that U.S. Senior Official Casey Mace and Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Ruth Perry are heading an expert team to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2026 Senior Officials’ Meeting and Related Meetings (SOM1) in Guangzhou, China.
The meetings, which began February 1, continue through Tuesday this week, as the United States seeks to further open Asian markets to American exports and continues to promote deregulation and U.S.-friendly business policies.
The State Department explained, “The United States is taking decisive action at SOM1 to combat illegal fishing, marine debris, and the illicit timber trade, which threaten American businesses, workers, and our national security. By promoting American technology and industry, we are opening new markets in Asia, restoring a level playing field for American companies, and supporting good jobs at home while leading international efforts to protect the environment.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the leaders of the U.S. delegation to be prudent in their advocacy of U.S. priorities.
- For President Trump, Secretary of State Rubio, and other U.S. officials as they promote U.S. trade and commerce.
