Today, U.S. officials are meeting with Iranians in Oman to discuss halting Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons. After the U.S. increased its military presence in the Arabian Sea, an American fighter jet shot down an Iranian drone as it “aggressively approached” the USS Abraham Lincoln. An Iranian gunboat also harassed a U.S.-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.

President Donald Trump urged Iran to “quickly ‘Come to the Table’ and negotiate a fair and equitable deal.” He warned that a U.S. “armada” was moving into position, and, “Like with Venezuela, it is ready, willing, and able to rapidly fulfill its mission, with speed and violence, if necessary.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “We prefer to meet and talk. I’m not sure you can reach a deal with these guys, but we’re going to try to find out.”
Secretary Rubio also addressed the civil uprising occurring in Iran, saying, “The Iranian people and the Iranian regime are very unalike. The leadership of Iran at the clerical level does not reflect the people of Iran. I know of no other country where there’s a bigger difference between the people that lead the country and the people who live there.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump and his Cabinet officials as they assess threats to U.S. security.
- For Secretary Rubio to be discerning as he oversees U.S. diplomatic efforts around the world.
- For the U.S. representatives to be prudent in their discussions seeking to prevent Iran’s nuclear armament.
