Legislation Introduced to Stop Trafficking of Teens Out of State for Abortions

The bills address parental notification laws across state lines

Members of Congress have recently introduced companion legislation in the Senate to a House bill that would restrict the transportation of minors across state lines for the purpose of obtaining an abortion without compliance with parental notification laws in the minor’s home state.

“This bill will hold all parties accountable and ensure children are not taken advantage of. … The Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act will put parents back in the equation and protect the lives of both the child and the unborn,” said Congressman Dave Taylor of Ohio.

Supporters of the proposal say it is intended to reinforce existing state-level parental involvement requirements and establish federal penalties for circumvention. The bill follows increased interstate travel for abortion services after recent changes in federal abortion law.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Congressman Taylor and other legislators as they consider legislation involving minors, families, and medical decision-making.
  • For members of Congress to be discerning as they address abortion and other controversial issues.
  • For the protection of minors against trafficking and abortion that supports exploitation.
