He said that only criminal conduct is being investigated; peaceful protestors are not a target.
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel announced that his agency is investigating the Signal group chats that have been used to coordinate activities that impede or obstruct federal immigration enforcement operations in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“The Signal chat group is information we collect from the public, because we repeatedly request that the public provide us with any information they have,” Director Patel said. “On this type of specific investigation, what you do, generally speaking, is send out subpoenas, collect data, put people before grand juries, and find out who broke the law and if anyone incited violence.“
He explained, “Remember, that’s the key here: we are not going after people or infringing on their freedom of speech to peacefully protest, and we are definitely not going after people for their Second Amendment right to bear arms. Only if you incite violence and/or threaten to do harm to law enforcement officials, or break the law in any other way, does it become an investigatory matter.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Director Patel as he oversees the investigation into the coordination of criminal activity obstructing federal law enforcement.
- For President Trump and members of his administration to be discerning as they seek to uphold federal immigration laws.
- For the safety of ICE and CBP agents as they conduct immigration enforcement operations around the nation.
