Labor Department Announces Grants for Homeless Veterans Employment

The funding supports job training and reintegration services.

The Department of Labor recently announced $23 million in grant funding through the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program to support organizations providing employment and training services to veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Grants will be administered by the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service and awarded over a three-year period.

“The Department of Labor understands that access to a good-paying job is one of the strongest tools we have to reduce and prevent veteran homelessness,” said Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer. “This $23 million investment will help veterans overcome barriers to employment and reenter the workforce with the dignity and opportunity they deserve.”

Recipients will offer job readiness training, apprenticeship placements, and employment assistance in coordination with federal housing and veterans’ services. The program is part of a multi-agency effort involving the Departments of Labor, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and Veterans Affairs (VA) to reduce barriers to employment for veterans.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Chavez-DeRemer as she heads the Labor Department and oversees the funding for the program to reduce and prevent veteran homelessness.
  • For U.S. labor, housing, and veterans affairs officials as they collaborate to increase stable employment and housing for veterans.
  • For federal agency personnel as they engage with nonprofits to coordinate reintegration services.
