President Donald Trump is visiting Michigan today and will speak at the Detroit Economic Club this afternoon.
The Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments in two cases regarding Title IX and participation in girls’ and women’s sports. Lawsuits have been brought against state laws that bar biological males from competing on female athletic teams, claiming that it is a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
The high court is hearing the cases after the Fourth and Ninth Circuit U.S. Courts of Appeals, respectively, granted injunctions against West Virginia and Idaho state laws that prohibit men and boys from participating in women’s and girls’ sporting events.
