President Trump Announces Lower Prescription Drug Pricing

The president has persuaded U.S.-based companies to take action.

President Donald Trump recently struck a deal with nine U.S. pharmaceutical companies, which will decrease prices for a large number of medications. Patients in the United States previously paid nearly three times the average than other developed countries for their medication. The “Most Favored Nation” agreement will significantly reduce prices for drugs that treat several diseases, such as type two diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, hepatitis B and C, HIV, certain cancers, and more. Every state Medicaid program will have access to the reduced pricing.

“As of today, 14 out of the 17 largest pharmaceutical companies … have now agreed to drastically lower drug prices for… the American people and the American patients,” President Trump said. “This represents the greatest victory for patient affordability in the history of American healthcare, by far, and every single American will benefit.”

The manufacturers who agreed to the deal will not have tariffs placed on their products for a three-year grace period. Additionally, these companies have pledged to invest $150 billion in U.S. research, development, and manufacturing.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump as he works to accomplish prescription affordability for Americans.
  • For U.S. health officials as they help to coordinate the president’s efforts.
