$3.3 billion in projects expand border infrastructure and surveillance in Texas and Arizona.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced five new contracts totaling $3.3 billion for Smart Wall construction along the U.S.–Mexico border in Texas and Arizona. The projects will add new primary and secondary border barriers, waterborne barriers, roads, lighting, cameras, and detection technology. With these awards, total Smart Wall construction contracts now reach $8 billion, using funding authorized under recent federal legislation.
CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott stated, “Securing our border is key to protecting our country, keeping our communities safe, and making sure our immigration system works the way it should. A border wall with the right technology – a Smart Wall – is an important tool to stop illegal activity and to help agents do their job, which is critical in keeping America safe.”
The contracts cover multiple Border Patrol sectors, including Del Rio, Laredo, and Tucson, and together will add nearly 100 miles of primary wall, additional secondary barriers, and expanded surveillance in areas where barriers already exist.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Noem to be prudent in her management of the Department of Homeland Security and decisions related to national security, immigration, and public safety.
- For Commissioner Scott as he oversees the awarding and completion of the smart wall construction contracts.
- For DHS and CBP personnel as they seek to ensure the security of the nation’s borders.
