U.S. Marshals and Homeland Security Save Dozens of Children from Trafficking

Operation Northern Lights led to the arrest of 9 people on charges ranging from human trafficking and child endangerment to custodial interference.

The U.S. Marshals Service and Homeland Security Investigations participated in a multi-state operation that recently rescued 43 children from the ages of one year to 17 years old from sex trafficking in North Florida. The children have been provided physical and psychological care as charges are being filed against nine perpetrators who were arrested by federal agents.

“This was the most successful missing child operation ever conducted in Northern Florida,” said Greg Leljedal, acting U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Florida. “Because of the tireless dedication of the US Marshals and our law enforcement partners, 43 endangered children will now be home safe for the holidays.”

“The recovery of over 40 missing children reflects the unwavering commitment and teamwork from law enforcement,” said Homeland Security Investigations Assistant Special Agent in Charge Nicholas Ingegno.“Every child deserves to be safe, and we will continue to use every resource at our disposal to bring missing children home and support their families.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Noem and DHS officials as they coordinate with other federal law enforcement agencies on multi-state operations.
  • For U.S. Marshals Service Director Gadyaces Serralta and the field agents as they collaborate on breaking up human trafficking rings.
