Schools from all fifty states will be visited and recognized for excellence in civics education.
Secretary of Education Linda McMahon and other education officials launched the History Rocks! Trail to Independence Tour last week as a way to celebrate the United States’ upcoming 250th anniversary. They will visit schools from all fifty U.S. states as part of the tour, and will provide recognition for excellence in civics education. The tour will also promote a shared understanding of the values that the U.S. was founded on.
“I am thrilled to kick off the History Rocks Tour as part of the Department of Education’s celebration of our nation’s 250th birthday,” said Secretary McMahon. “I look forward to highlighting excellence in patriotic education, civic literacy, and student-driven civics projects in classrooms across the country. Preparing the next generation of American leaders to understand and appreciate the blessings of liberty our Constitution secures has never been more urgent.”
The tour is expected to include hands-on learning activities for students, opportunities for students to explore different roles as future leaders, and conversations with members of the community on strengthening history and civics instruction in the U.S.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the safety of Secretary McMahon and the other officials as they travel to visit various schools around the country.
- For wisdom for President Trump and Secretary McMahon as they promote American history and civics education.
- For federal, state, and local school officials to be committed to accuracy and excellence in education.
