DHS Secretary Recommends Expansion of Travel Ban

The list of countries under a travel ban, currently at 19, could reach 30 or 32 after the attack that murdered a National Guard member.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has recommended that President Donald Trump expand the list of countries banned from travel to the United States. This recommendation comes in the wake of the shooting of two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., on Thanksgiving Eve, by an Afghan national. One of the Guard members died, while the other is still hospitalized.

Secretary Noem stated she was “recommending a full travel ban on every… country that’s been flooding our nation with killers, leeches, and entitlement junkies.”

The DHS secretary continued, “Our forefathers built this nation on blood, sweat, and the unyielding love of freedom—not for foreign invaders to slaughter our heroes, suck dry our hard-earned tax dollars, or snatch the benefits owed to AMERICANS.”

A travel ban means that nationals from the affected countries are unable to receive immigrant visas for permanent residence or, in some cases, non-immigrant visas for tourism, work, or study. Bans are not applicable to those who currently hold valid visas, are permanent residents, dual nationals, or are immediate relatives of U.S. citizens.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Noem to seek God’s direction as she heads the Department of Homeland Security and its many agencies.
  • For wisdom for President Trump as he receives counsel and recommendations from Cabinet members and advisors.
