Lt. General Anthony Hale
U.S. Army, Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence
Anthony Reynolds Hale is a native of North Carolina. He earned an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University, where he also received his commission in the Military Intelligence Corps. He also holds a master’s degree from the Naval War College.
Hale served in command, staff, and operational assignments as a career intelligence officer. He commanded the 704th Military Intelligence Brigade, the 519th Military Intelligence Battalion, the 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps. He also served as the Director of Intelligence of U.S. Special Operations Command, and Deputy Chief of Staff, Intelligence, then Director of Intelligence of Joint Special Operations Command, and Aide-de-Camp to the 36th Chief of Staff of the Army.
Hale became Army Chief of Staff for Intelligence in January 2024 after serving as Commanding General and Commandant of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence.
Hale is married to Stacey.

Lt. General Anthony Hale issued a warning to Army personnel regarding the national security threat of foreign intelligence entities targeting soldiers, civilians, and their families.
The intelligence chief highlighted the tactics of hostile foreign governments posing as recruiters, consultants, or think tanks in an effort to exploit military service members seeking new employment opportunities during periods of financial instability, such as during the recent government shutdown.
General Hale reminded holders of security clearance of their legal obligation to safeguard classified information even after they leave government service. He stated, “Maintaining our advantage requires constant vigilance and a commitment to protecting our information and our people.”
