Legal Challenge Delays Beautification Effort on Eisenhower Building

Plans to paint the Eisenhower Executive Office Building put on hold.

President Donald Trump’s plan to clean and paint the Eisenhower Executive Office Building has been delayed by a legal challenge from the DC Preservation League and Cultural Heritage Partners. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, highlighted the building’s architectural and national significance, and sought to prevent its “irreversible alteration.”

Federal Judge Dabney Friedrich will rule on a preliminary injunction, which would halt the government from making changes to the building without the standard review process.

The acting commissioner of the General Services Administration (GSA), Andrew Heller, stated that the “GSA will not authorize or engage in the physical actions of power washing/cleaning, painting, or repointing the Eisenhower Executive Office Building before Dec. 31, 2025.”

President Trump has been critical of the building’s external aesthetics, particularly for the dingy grey color. He suggested the building be painted white.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Judge Friedrich to be prudent in her consideration of the challenge to the president’s administration.
  • For President Trump and officials in his Cabinet as they seek to improve the aesthetics of federal buildings.
  • For Acting Commissioner Heller to seek God’s direction as he heads the General Services Administration.
