Interior Secretary Doug Burgum issued an order entitled “Unleashing American Offshore Energy,“ which directs the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to take steps to terminate a previous program that restricted oil and gas leasing on the outer continental shelf from 2024 through 2029.

The new order proposes to expand offshore oil and gas leasing from 2026 through 2031.

Secretary Burgum said, “Offshore oil and gas production does not happen overnight. It takes years of planning, investment, and hard work before barrels reach the market.”

He continued, “By moving forward with the development of a robust, forward-thinking leasing plan, we are ensuring that America’s offshore industry stays strong, our workers stay employed, and our nation remains energy dominant for decades to come.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Burgum and BOEM officials as they take steps to increase domestic oil and gas production.
  • For wisdom for President Trump as he seeks to strengthen the energy independence of the U.S.
  • For federal judges to be prudent as they hear and rule on challenges to the president’s authority to enact national policies.
