FL Congresswoman Charged with Stealing FEMA Funding

A federal grand jury indicted the U.S. representative and co-defendants for taking, laundering, and using federal disaster funding on her campaign.

U.S. Representative Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick of Florida was indicted by a grand jury in Miami, along with co-defendants, for stealing Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds, laundering the money, and putting it toward her campaign.

According to the Justice Department’s filing, the congresswoman and her family received overpayment from FEMA to their healthcare company in 2021 in connection with a contract for COVID-19 vaccinations. The congresswoman and her brother allegedly rerouted the funding through multiple accounts rather than returning them.

“Using disaster relief funds for self-enrichment is a particularly selfish, cynical crime,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “No one is above the law, least of all powerful people who rob taxpayers for personal gain. We will follow the facts in this case and deliver justice.”

Representative Cherfilus-McCormick maintains that she is innocent.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Attorney General Bondi to be discerning in her management of the Justice Department.
  • For U.S. Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones as he oversees the case in the Southern District of Florida.
  • For Representative Cherfilus-McCormick and her legal team to be transparent regarding the dealings with federal emergency funding.
