Secretary Duffy found that the licenses had not been issued in compliance with federal regulations.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy revoked 17,000 commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) that were found to have been illegally issued in the state of California. The Transportation Department announced earlier last week that the California Department of Motor Vehicles issued the licenses outside of compliance with federal regulations.
Secretary Duffy stated that these licenses were granted to individuals who were noncitizens unauthorized to work in the U.S., as well as individuals who were unable to pass English fluency tests.
California is the first state to be found out of compliance with federal CDL regulations. However, an audit conducted by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration earlier this year also found “systemic non-compliance” in the states of Colorado, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, and Washington.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God to give Secretary Duffy wisdom as he works with the State of California and other states to uphold the lawful issuance of CDLs in the nation.
- For U.S. federal and state transportation officials as they review CDL issuance and regulation compliance.
- For God’s protection over the nation’s transportation systems and all who use them on a daily basis.
