USDA Announces SNAP Overhaul Due to Fraud

Secretary Rollins announces that everyone receiving nutrition assistance must reapply.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins announced that recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will have to reapply for benefits. She said the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is overhauling the program after a review found significant fraud.

Secretary Rollins stated, “SNAP fraud is out of control, and the numbers we HAVE prove it. Data from just 29 states uncovered nearly 200,000 people with dead people’s social security numbers… Meanwhile, 21 states are suing to keep their data hidden. Why block transparency unless the truth is worse than the headlines?”

“This is exactly what happens when a massive program runs on outdated lists and zero accountability,” she continued. The department will “have everyone reapply for their benefits, make sure that everyone that’s taking a taxpayer-funded benefit through … food stamps, that they literally are vulnerable and they can’t survive without it.”

“SNAP is supposed to be if you’re down and out. The number is many times what it should be. It really puts the country in jeopardy,” President Trump stated. “People that need it have to get it. I’m all for it.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Rollins to seek God’s direction as she oversees changes to the food assistance program.
  • For President Trump and members of his administration as they seek to prevent fraud and waste in federal benefit programs.
