The Department of Energy renewed emergency orders to support Puerto Rico’s electric grid. The island territory continues to prepare for increased demand and seasonal storms.

The Energy Department explained that these orders “authorize the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) to dispatch generation units essential for maintaining critical generation capacity, while accelerating vegetation management to reduce outages and strengthen long-term grid reliability.“
“Modernizing Puerto Rico’s energy grid is essential to achieving long-term reliability and affordability for the Commonwealth,” said Energy Secretary Chris Wright. “Our team is working with local and federal partners to boost power generation and accelerate vegetation management efforts to strengthen Puerto Rico’s electrical grid.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Wright to be discerning as he evaluates the power grid of U.S. states and territories.
- For President Trump and members of his administration as they endeavor to increase the nation’s energy independence.
- For members of the House and Senate as they consider legislation involving energy production and development.
