FDA Places Restrictions on Ingestible Flouride Use

Companies must change their products to meet new standards after decades of unregulated use.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has restricted the use of fluoride-containing ingestible drug products for children. The agency announced that action will be taken against companies that market unapproved formulations. While ingestible fluoride products have been used since the 1940s, the FDA has now declared that these products should not be consumed by children under the age of 3, or by children who are not at a high risk of tooth decay.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., stated, “It’s scary that these products have been used for decades without approval. Today’s action raises public awareness, informs medical professionals, and builds on President Trump’s commitment to Make Our Children Healthy Again.”

The FDA sent letters to companies, directing them to assess products containing ingestible fluoride and “implement appropriate corrective actions”. Appropriate action is to be taken by these companies within 30 days of receiving the notice.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For FDA officials as they review the safety and effectiveness of previously approved medications and substances.
  • For wisdom for Secretary Kennedy and Commissioner Makary as they support the public health of Americans.
