Today, the Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments in two cases regarding President Donald Trump’s authority to impose tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

In Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump and Trump v. V.O.S. Selections, Inc., the justices will consider the challenge of President Trump’s invoking of the act to place sweeping worldwide tariffs.
After saying that he would attend the Supreme Court arguments in person, President Trump decided not to in order to avoid creating a “distraction.”
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will attend the hearing as a representative of the president’s administration.
