President Donald Trump’s new tariffs on imported medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (MHDVs) and buses take effect today.

President Trump issued Proclamation 10984 last month to announce that the U.S. will levy a 25 percent tariff on MHDVs and their parts and a 10 percent tariff on buses under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.

The issuance of these tariffs is the result of a Commerce Department investigation in April that found the offshore manufacturing of such medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses constitutes a national security risk due to the reliance of the U.S. military as well as civilian medical, law enforcement, and disaster relief efforts on such vehicles.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for President Trump and his trade team as they seek to bring production and manufacturing back to the U.S.
  • For U.S. officials who are trying to strengthen both national security and the nation’s economy.
  • For members of the president’s administration as they conduct studies and investigations on the discrepancies in the country’s supply chain.
