Comprehending What Is Revealed

I will make my words known to you. – Proverbs 1:23

How is your reading comprehension? Consider for a moment how many times you have read through words on a page, only later to have an “aha” moment, and say to yourself, “Okay, NOW I get it!”

On the day Peter recognized Who he was following was more than just a wise teacher, Jesus said to him: “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 16:17). Only through divine revelation from God was Peter able to identify Jesus of Nazareth as the Christ, God’s Messiah.

God is at work in and through the United States. And, like Peter, you may only gradually be grasping what God is doing. Paul already prayed for you about that: “May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you” (Ephesians 1:17-18).

Regardless of what governing officials do or say, you are called to a life of hope, blessing, and purpose! This life is discovered by absorbing Scripture into your heart and mind. As you intentionally pursue what His words mean, you come to understand the attributes of God’s character and the reliability of His promises. Pray for next week’s elections. Intercede for politicians to join you in the pursuit of heavenly revelation, using knowledge of God, and His Son Jesus Christ, to guide the nation.

Today’s Verse: Proverbs 1:23

If you turn at my reproof,
behold, I will pour out my spirit to you;
    I will make my words known to you.

12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
