Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son. – Hebrews 1:1-2
Yahweh communicated the truth to His people through prophets throughout Israel’s history. Prophets not only foretold the future, but also proclaimed what people needed to hear for that day. The prophets’ words also pointed to the promise of a coming Messiah. Isaiah 7:14 states, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” Jesus Christ is Immanuel, meaning “God with us.” He is the very representation and likeness of the Father. The Lord walked among the people as flesh, bones, sinew, and blood, yet perfectly divine. He agonized on a cross and died because He was fully human. Three days later, He rose from the grave because He was fully God.
The Old Testament Hebrew name Yeshua, which is Jesus in the Greek used in the New Testament, means “savior, salvation, or deliverer.” Of all the names of God, the name of Jesus opens the floodgates of His greatest power now and forever. Without Immanuel, you could never understand your Heavenly Father. Jesus, the complete revelation of God Himself, said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). As a result, you can experience eternal life and have access to Him anytime.
One day, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. Pray that governing officials on Capitol Hill who do not know Immanuel will embrace Him for the gift of eternal life. And ask God to reveal the truth to the people of this nation as you intercede for His good plan to be accomplished in the United States.
Today’s Verse: Hebrews 1:1-2
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
