Secretary Rubio says it would jeopardize the peace process in Gaza.
Members of President Donald Trump’s administration have opposed the preliminary approval the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, gave to annex the West Bank. The region of Judea and Samaria is controlled by Israel but claimed by Palestinians. The United Arab Emirates, which has been involved in negotiating the Gaza ceasefire, has called such an annexation a “red line.“
Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained that such a move would threaten the peace process in Gaza. “That’s not something we can be supportive of right now,” Secretary Rubio said as he prepared to travel to Israel.
Vice President JD Vance, who was about to depart Israel, said that if the Knesset vote was a “political stunt, then it is a very stupid political stunt.”
The vice president also called the move an insult, adding, “The policy of the Trump administration is that the West Bank will not be annexed by Israel.”
While in Israel this week, Vice President Vance announced that a civilian military coordination center has opened in southern Israel to plan the reconstruction of Gaza.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Rubio to be led by the Lord as he engages with Israeli and Arab officials during his trip to Israel.
- For Vice President Vance as he works to support President Trump’s peace plan for Gaza.
- For President Trump to seek God’s direction as he continues to address global conflicts.
