President Trump halted funding to that nation over its drug industry.
The nation of Colombia pulled its ambassador to the U.S. after President Donald Trump announced that the United States would stop sending payments to the nation of Colombia due to that nation’s increased production of cocaine in recent years.
President Trump stated, “THESE PAYMENTS, OR ANY OTHER FORM OF PAYMENT, OR SUBSIDIES, WILL NO LONGER BE MADE TO COLOMBIA. The purpose of this drug production is the sale of massive amounts of product into the United States, causing death, destruction, and havoc.”
He also called Colombian President Gustavo Petro “an illegal drug leader strongly encouraging the massive production of drugs, in big and small fields, all over Colombia.”
President Petro claimed that U.S. military actions against drug trafficking vessels in the Caribbean were actually strikes on fishing boats. He also ominously stated in an interview that, if President Trump did not change, he should be taken out.
The U.S. State Department revoked the visa of President Petro last month after he joined pro-Hamas protestors outside the United Nations last month and reportedly encouraged U.S. soldiers in New York City to disobey orders. Earlier this year, President Petro refused to accept deportation flights into Colombia until President Trump threatened high tariffs and visa bans.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God’s protection over President Trump’s life and for Secret Service agents as they seek to secure his environment.
- For President Trump to receive the Lord’s wisdom and direction as he makes and implements foreign policy decisions and addresses the opioid crisis.
- For wisdom for Secretary Rubio and other advisors as they provide information and recommendations to the president.
