USDA Delegation Seeks to Expand Agricultural Trade in Taiwan

The officials conduct a mission to deepen agricultural partnerships and increase market access.

Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Luke Lindberg led a U.S. Department of Agriculture trade mission in Taipei to increase market opportunities and agricultural exports for American producers. The delegation includes 39 agribusinesses, trade associations, and representatives from three state agriculture departments. Taiwan, currently the eighth-largest market for U.S. agricultural exports, maintains a steady demand for American products such as soybeans, corn, wheat, dairy, and beef.

“On a per capita basis, Taiwan already punches above its weight in purchasing high-quality American agriculture, but we are here to showcase more of our amazing brands and food products. As a high-income economy Taiwan consumers want nothing but the best, and American producers are uniquely positioned to deliver on that demand,” said Under Secretary Lindberg.

The visit follows Taiwan’s recent commitment to boost imports of U.S. agricultural goods by 30 percent over the next four years. Future trade missions are scheduled for Japan and Mexico later this year.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Under Secretary Lingberg as he facilitates the expansion of U.S. agricultural exports in Asia.
  • For discernment for Secretary Rollins as she heads the U.S. Department of Agriculture and its many agencies.
