Funds civics literacy ahead of the 250th birthday of the United States
The Department of Education announced over $153 million in grant awards this week for civics programs to prepare K-12 classrooms for the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States next year. The grants will be distributed by the American History and Civics Seminars Program to highlight “foundational American principles,”
“These grants reflect the Trump Administration’s ongoing efforts to educate and inspire youth toward informed and patriotic citizenship in the lead-up to America’s 250th birthday,” said Under Secretary Nicholas Kent. “We are focused on restoring civics education and advancing a shared understanding of America’s founding principles and rich history in schools across the Nation. To know this great country is to love and cherish it.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Under Secretary Kent to receive God’s guidance as he facilitates the support of American civics in education.
- For Secretary McMahon to seek the Lord as she heads the Department of Education’s preparations for the United States’ 250th anniversary.
