The president’s administration has designated drug cartels as terrorist organizations.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that another deadly strike was launched on a small cartel trafficking ship sailing in international waters off the coast of Venezuela.
“Our intelligence, without a doubt, confirmed that this vessel was trafficking narcotics, the people onboard were narco-terrorists, and they were operating on a known narco-trafficking transit route,” Secretary Hegseth posted, with a video showing a boat blown up in a strike. “These strikes will continue until the attacks on the American people are over!!!!“
This is the fourth strike President Trump’s administration launched against small narcotics runners sailing near Venezuela this year. Secretary Hegseth stated these strikes are necessary to stop drug cartels “headed to America to poison our people.”
Some Congressional legislators and human rights groups have questioned the legality of these strikes. President Trump’s administration recently notified Congress regarding the “armed conflict“ it is engaging with drug cartels, which have been designated as terrorist organizations.
