Arab and Muslim States Urge Hamas to Accept U.S. Ceasefire Plan

Middle Eastern nations emphasize the desire for a two-state solution.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan urged Hamas, the terrorist organization in control of Gaza, to accept the preliminary terms of President Donald Trump’s proposal for a ceasefire.

The White House laid out a 20-point structure for a ceasefire in Gaza, which included ending the blockade Israel is enacting against the coastal area and implementing a “Board of Peace” as a temporary government, of which President Trump would serve as chair. In their joint statement, the Arab countries said that they welcomed the U.S. president’s “leadership and his sincere efforts to end the war in Gaza”.

President Trump has threatened to allow the destruction of Gaza if Hamas does not accept this agreement, saying in his announcement that the U.S. would give Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the backing necessary to “finish the job of destroying the threat of Hamas” if the group did not agree to the plan.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for President Trump and members of his administration as they seek peace in Gaza.
  • For the leaders of the Arab and Muslim nations as they advise Hamas to accept the peace plan.
  • For U.S. and Israeli officials as they assess the threats posed by Hamas’ control of Gaza.
