President Trump would chair the board alongside the former UK prime minister, but Hamas would not be involved.
The White House released its latest proposed solution to end Israel’s violence against the people of Gaza on Monday, outlining a 20-point plan to shape Gaza into a “deradicalized terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors.”
In the plan, Hamas would relinquish governance of the area to a “technocratic, apolitical” committee called the “Board of Peace,” which would be chaired by President Donald Trump. Former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair would serve as a member. Once the board is established, Israel will fully allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.
“Everybody who wants to see an end to the violence and destruction should be united in calling for Hamas to accept the extremely fair proposal so that we can end the war, and get us back our hostages right now, and have everlasting peace,” President Trump said at the news conference.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supported the agreement, which was announced after his fourth meeting with President Trump in the president’s second term.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump to be discerning as he continues to pursue peace in the Middle East.
- For leaders of Hamas and the nations supporting the group to consider the proposal.
