For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand. – Ephesians 2:10
You may have visited museums or even stately homes abroad where the walls are adorned with tapestries. The scenes and images are crisp and colorful, with details so fine as to make one wonder about the skills of the weavers. But what do you see when you turn them over? John Piper said, “We look at life from the back side of the tapestry. And most of the time, what we see is loose threads, tangled knots, and the like. “ Yet, as God looks down upon you, He sees His work, a beautiful composition of color and detail. And, according to today’s verse, He Himself has been the Weaver, the Creator, of a unique image that is you!
You are very special in the eyes of God. You are His work of art, His masterpiece, His crowning achievement in creation. Not only are you a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), but you are continually being renewed (2 Corinthians 4:16). You may feel worn and even close to threadbare in some places, but do not lose heart. God is not finished with you yet.
As today’s verse also reveals, the Lord has not made you just to hang on a wall and look beautiful. He has work for you to do. Just as Medieval tapestries often depicted historical events and could be used as teaching tools, God wants your life to be a lesson from which others learn of His transforming power, promises kept, and blessings bestowed. As tapestries were often in drafty places or against bare stone walls, they were an insulator against the cold. Your life can similarly depict His protection.
Focus on the beauty of the Lord’s work and do not focus on the loose ends and tangles of the world today. Intercede on behalf of President Trump and Vice President Vance that they might bless the Lord because of His goodness and protection for them also.
Today’s Verse: Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Come, O children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 What man is there who desires life
and loves many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Turn away from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous
and his ears toward their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
17 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears
and delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
20 He keeps all his bones;
not one of them is broken.
21 Affliction will slay the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
22 The Lord redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.
