He said the panel established in 1951 is part of “divisive feminist agenda.”
On Tuesday, the Pentagon confirmed that Secretary Pete Hegseth disbanded the department’s Advisory Committee on Women in the Services. The panel had been one of 40 advisory groups that had previously been placed on hiatus earlier this year.
The Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS) was created in 1951 and provided advice on “recruitment, retention, employment, integration, well-being, and treatment of women” in the U.S. Armed Forces. The committee is one of the oldest advisory panels within the U.S. military and has submitted over 1,100 recommendations to Pentagon chiefs.
“After further review, Secretary Hegseth has decided to terminate the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services,” Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson stated. “The Committee is focused on advancing a divisive feminist agenda that hurts combat readiness, while Secretary Hegseth has focused on advancing uniform, sex-neutral standards across the Department.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Hegseth to seek God’s direction as he works to increase the combat readiness of the U.S. Armed Forces.
- For the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Pentagon officials to be discerning in their recommendations to the president and defense secretary.
